Make a Difference
No mandatory slow speed regulations currently are in place on the West Coast of California.
By creating seasonal and predictable voluntary slow speed zones for shipping vessels, this program helps protect endangered whales, reduces fuel use, air and marine noise pollution, and regional greenhouse gas emissions. When shipping customers amplify and show support for these efforts, shipping companies respond, resulting in greater environmental impact.
Ambassadors:

Ship with one or more participating shipping lines; and

Import or export via ocean freight to California ports, or

Work with participating shipping lines in support of air quality and marine protection initiatives.

Distribute letter(s) to maritime shipping providers to express appreciation for their participation, or to encourage enrollment.

Share their participation with customers and encouraging greater industry participation.
